Ways to Replace Lies, Doubts, and Insecurities with the Truths and Promises of God

So here we are.

Small business owners.

Women-owned small business owners.

Christian women-owned small business owners.

That’s me, and that’s you.

So, tell me, did you always plan on being a small business owner? Was that always on your list of goals for your life?

Personally, that was never my goal or dream. I had way too many insecurities, and I was carrying around way too many bags full of doubts and past hurts to ever allow myself to dream that big. Not to mention, I never felt qualified to be the boss. I didn’t trust in or have confidence in who God says I am, or in my ability to lead anyone—including myself—as a business owner. I relied on and lived my life focusing on the negative self-talk given to me by some in my past, and I allowed that tape to guide my decisions and the path I walked.

It’s sad but also inspiring to my now healthy-ish self as I look back on so many years of being stuck.

Sound familiar to anyone? Maybe your story looks a little different, but you can relate to hesitating before taking that first step—or the next step, or even the one after that. Maybe you’re like me and have had serious conversations with God where you presented your case, listing all the reasons why you were (or are) unqualified to do what He’s asked you to do.

Maybe that’s the season you’re in now, and you presented your case just this morning.

Or maybe that’s not the season you’re in at all. Maybe you’re living confidently, knowing that you’re a daughter of the King and that you’re exactly on the path He set aside for you. Maybe you’ve worked hard on healing a past, broken version of yourself, and now you are in a season of joy and freedom, walking confidently as a woman-owned business owner.

Lean in, friends. ELEVATED is a community where we support and encourage each other through stories and thoughts—even when you don't feel like you need inspiration. Because the truth is, we have a real enemy who is not happy that you are living boldly in the life God has called you to.

So if you haven’t been attacked recently, we still need to live as Peter tells us: “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” – 1 Peter 5:8 (ESV)

The enemy doesn’t want us to be a light in this world. He loves the dark.

He loves when we hesitate to share our faith.

He loves when we compromise our beliefs to fit in.

He loves when we post, share, or like things that go against God’s best.

He loves when we doubt who we are and remain stuck in insecurity.

He loves all of it—because it keeps us just far enough away from living a life of surrender and freedom in Christ.

We won’t do it perfectly, but we can’t live both ways. We can’t spend time with God in the morning and by afternoon be living in a way that pleases the world.

Friends, as Christians, we are called to be different—to stand apart and reflect the character of the one true God.“For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” – Ephesians 5:8 (ESV)

This means not doing what the world does. When we stay stuck in unhealthy patterns, we delay our mission and withhold blessings from others that we were meant to give.

Now, don’t hear that wrong—God’s plan will always be accomplished. But sometimes we miss out on being part of it because of our own brokenness.

God doesn’t want your obedience just in your private life or on Sundays—He wants it in every aspect of your life, including your business.

It can be scary, I know. And maybe screaming in your reels, “I’m a Christiannnnn and you need to repent nowww!” isn’t something you want to do. Trust me, I don’t blame you—that’s not my style either.

But I believe that when the world looks at us, they should see Christ’s reflection. My belief as a Christian should never come as a surprise to anyone looking in.

This can be hard when you’re carrying a gazillion pounds of baggage.

Girl, I know. That was me.

And if I’m honest, some days I still struggle—wondering if I heard God correctly, or if I’m the right girl for the “job.”

That’s when I lean into His truth. I ask for His voice to be louder than my self-sabotaging tape. And I remind myself that the enemy doesn’t attack those who aren’t a threat.

If he’s attacking me, then I must be on the right path.

Celebrate the attack—because that’s exactly where you’ll find your purpose.

Ever wonder why people who live in the world seem to have easy lives, overflowing with blessings? Maybe it’s because the enemy doesn’t need to bother them—he already has them exactly where he wants them.

But you, my friend, have accepted the Lord as your Savior. You are set apart. You are adopted into God’s family.

Can you say target on your back?

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” – James 1:2-4 (ESV)

Allow the trials, doubts, and dependency on Christ to sanctify you. Consider it joy because He is making you reflect Him more and more each day.

Love to you all!

Angela
